2009 Holiday PartyThere could be no better place in St Louis to hold a Holiday Party than at the Magic House. Close to 200 members of GHA agreed with us and came out to have some Holiday fun. As families arrived, they enjoyed homemade cookies, which were provided by “Grandma’s Cookies”. Grandma’s Cookies is a company owned by Theresa Rubio, one of our members. THESE COOKIES ARE DELICIOUS!!! We also served cake and beverages. The cakes were part of the Camp Superfly celebration and provided by Baxter. After a brief welcome from Bob Davidson, GHA President, we got to see the award-winning camp video. This video won $1,500 for GHA through Baxter’s Camp Superfly contest. GHA was, then, presented with a check in the amount of $8,500, $1,500 for the video and $8,000 which our GHA kids won through their active participation in the contest. Afterwards, the children (and adults) were turned loose for 2 1/2 hours of play in the newly expanded Magic House. Santa arrived and was able to visit with the children under 6. We are sad to report, however, that before he could see the 7 year olds and up, he fell ill and had to leave. We hope he will be feeling better by the time the Holiday comes around. Thanks to Stephanie Lassiter for driving him in from Kansas City. We would like to thank our Holiday Event Sponsors, Baxter, as part of Camp Superfly, and Coram Specialty Pharmacy. Without generous companies like these, we would not be able to have this annual event. We also would like to thank our volunteers for the evening, Larry and Diane Miller, Janie Summers, Theresa Senger, Jennifer Gentry and Nancy Phelps.
Thank you to Lori Belshner for arranging to have Fred Bird from the St. Louis Cardinals come to our Holiday Party! |
